Your Child’s Safety in a School Bus

Your child’s safety is a great concern to all school bus drivers. It is their responsibility to fetch and bring your child safely to the school, but since a school bus driver cannot manage all your children while driving safely, it is your responsibility as a parent to educate your child with regard to the safety measures while inside the school bus to keep them away from accidents.

Tips to keep your child safe:

1.       Educate your child to wait for the school bus to fetch them on the sidewalk instead of staying in the streets. They might not be noticed by the bus driver and accidents may happen.

2.      Tell your child to wait for the school bus to completely stop before stepping inside the bus.

3.      Inside the school bus, tell your child to behave and remain in their seats, keep their hands off the window.

4.       When they notice that they are already near the school, they should prepare all their things so that when the bus completely halts, they are ready to go out and they won’t forget any of their belongings.

5.      Tell them to wait for the school bus to completely stop before stepping out of the school bus to prevent any falls.

6.      When they are already out of the bus, advise them to stay out of the danger zone which is 10 feet around the bus. In case they dropped something near the school bus, tell them not to retrieve it when the bus is still there.

As a parent, you can ensure your child’s safety by also checking the school bus if it had any safety precaution procedures and procedures for evacuation during emergencies. Also make sure that there is a fire extinguisher present in case there would be fire emergency. There is a school bus service serving Toronto being offered by various rental companies like Parkinson Coach Lines.
